Onshore Skilled-Regional (Subclass 887) Visa

This visa is a pathway to permanent residence for skilled overseas people who are in Australia on one of the skilled provisional visas.

Eligibility

To meet the requirements for this visa you must, at the time you lodge your application:

  • have held one of the following visas (that was granted to you as a main applicant or as the spouse or interdependent partner of a main applicant):

    • Skilled-Independent Regional (Provisional) (Subclass 495)
    • Skilled-Designated Area Sponsored (Provisional) (Subclass 496)
    • Skilled-Regional Sponsored (Subclass 475 or 487)
    • Bridging visa A or B granted because you have made a valid application for a Subclass 495 or Subclass 487 visa while holding one of the 4 visas mentioned above for the 2 years

  • have complied with the conditions of your current Provisional visa (you and your dependents)
  • have lived for at least 2 years, and worked full time for 1 year, in a Specified Regional Area, while holding a provisional General Skilled Migration (GSM) visa.

You and any dependents included on your visa application must be able to meet the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) health and character requirements for permanent residence.

What do I need to do?

You will need to:

  • submit a completed and signed DIAC Form 1276 (www.immi.gov.au/allforms/pdf/1276.pdf) together with all personal documentation and evidence that you have met the residence and work requirements for the visa
  • pay the DIAC visa application fee.
