Changes to NT Sponsorship for Interstate Recent Graduates
From the close of business Wednesday 3 June 2009 only Northern Territory sponsorship applications for the Subclass 487 and 886 visas will only be accepted from recent graduates who have studied at a relevant tertiary institution in the Northern Territory, and completed an eligible minimum two year course of study.
Effective from Thursday 26 March 2009, applications from interstate recent graduates for Northern Territory Government Sponsorship for the Onshore Skilled Sponsored Visa (Subclass 886) and Onshore Skilled - Regional Sponsored Visa (Subclass 487) will no longer be accepted in the following nominated occupations:
- 2211 - 11 Accountant
- 2299 - 79 Business and Information Professional (nec)
- 2221 - 13 Marketing Specialist
From 1 January 2009 the Northern Territory Government requires all graduates from Interstate Universities and Tertiary Institutions who are seeking Skilled Sponsored sponsorship to show verifiable evidence of a genuine intention to move to, live and work in the Northern Territory.
This evidence could take the form of:
- a verifiable employment in their nominated occupation or a skilled occupation related to their qualification;
- or strong linkages to the Northern Territory.
The Department of Business and Employment will confirm its sponsorship to the Adelaide Skilled Processing Centre only after graduates have attended the office in person and presented their passport and a minimum of two pieces of evidence of residency e.g. NT drivers licence, vehicle registration papers, residential tenancy agreement, NT library card, utility accounts etc.
